The Indivish Foundation has ambitious plans to help 150 villages in Sahapur/ Murbad Taluka. Project can be later extended to entire Maharashtra.

  1. Encouraging farmers/ tribals to go for value added afforestation/ multiple crops.

  2. Conducting massive tree plantation programmes at the banks of lakes.


  3. Fish farming or pisciculture will give added revenue to Gram-panchayats**.


Conducting awareness programmes for farmers on benefits of water conservation, Social afforestation and natural balance of ecosystem.

 

We were able to desilt 2 lakes during the year thereby creating additional water storage capacity of 60 lakh liters of water.

IWF successfully completed:

De-silting project began at 'Mal' ( Murbad Taluka) in May 2021 and completed in June 2021. – Planted 100 trees around the lake. Desilting helped in developing additional storage of 40 lakhs liters of water and about same amount of water is is percolated thereby  raising the water table of nearby villages.


OUTCOME

This additional water storage has helped in the following:

  1. Water availability for agriculture and livestock.

  2. Water percolation has increased nearly 2 times raising the level of ground water and thereby making water available for drinking in the summer.

  3. Helping rural economy considerably and thereby limiting migration to nearby towns.

  4. A better quality of life for people who have been utilising the available resources from the water bodies.
